He holds the position of Aggregate Professor (Confirmed Researcher) in the scientific disciplinary sector MED-39 (Child Neuropsychiatry) and serves as a Lecturer in the Degree of Medicine and Surgery program. Additionally, he is a substitute professor in the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Trieste. Dr. Clarici is the author of more than 55 papers (25 papers in specialised international journals, 2 books, 12 book chapters, 2 papers in national Italian journals, 12 abstracts, 5 book translations or editorships, 1 final degree thesis and 2 specialisation theses). Andrea Clarici is particularly involved in the interface between neuroscience and psychoanalysis. In this field he was a founding member of the International Society for Neuro-psychoanalysis (NewYork, DC and London, UK) and at present he is in the Board of Neuropsychoanalysis Centre (London, UK). Among other subjects, his works concerned in particular: modifications of cerebral hemispheric specialisation as a consequence of moderate doses of ethyl alcohol; modifications of the physiological asymmetries of linguistic functions as a consequence of different speaking modalities; studies on developmental neuropsychology in healthy children and in children with learning disorders, especially dyslexia; studies on the subcortical asymmetries of linguistic functions. Dr. Clarici also devoted part of his activity to investigate the nonverbal aspects of relational behaviour in Humans, such as the effects of emotions on facial expressivity. He also studied the analysis of human voice by means of a computerized system for the recognition of the vocal signal in different physiological conditions. Dr. Clarici has been member also of the European Neuroscience Association (ENA) and of the Italian Psychiatry Society (SIP). In this context, he is a founding member of the International Society for Neuro-psychoanalysis (based in New York and London) and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Neuropsychoanalysis Center (London) as International Liaison Officer. Dr. Clarici's past areas of scientific and experimental interest, revolve around motivational and cognitive functions related to child development, psychological growth processes, and early components of verbal and non-verbal communication. He has conducted research on physiological and pathological parameters of infant crying. In an integrative perspective between neuroscience and psychology, he is studying the developmental and structural changes in personality following specific early brain lesions. He has been involved in experimental and clinical neurophysiology and neuropsychology studies and has contributed to teaching the Human Physiology course in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Clarici's primary clinical interest lies in the psychological development of children and psychiatric disorders in the developmental age. In this context, he has undergone training in Infant Observation and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents at the Martha Harris Center in Venice, with English faculty from the Tavistock Clinic in London. A current area of scientific and experimental interest for Dr. Clarici is the physiology of voice as a means of linguistic communication (speech) and as an acoustic signal with non-verbal components (e.g., prosody of language in adults and infant crying). He obtained his degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Trieste with a score of 110/110 and honors on July 11, 1989, defending an experimental thesis in neuropsychology. On October 1, 1989, he was appointed as a contract physician in the Child Neuropsychiatry Department at the "Burlo Garofolo" Children's Hospital in Trieste, where he worked on a research program focused on "Rehabilitative Neuropsychology of Specific Learning Disorders (dysphasia, dyslexia, apraxia, and motor clumsiness)." This contract, initially awarded for a duration of three years, was only fulfilled for one year (until September 19, 1990) due to mandatory military service, during which he served as a medical officer in the Italian Navy. In December 1989, he was admitted to the Audiology Specialization School at the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic in Trieste, where he focused on the applications of instrumentation for the acoustic analysis of voice and speech. On November 23, 1991, Dr. Clarici won a competition for a position as a university researcher in Human Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Trieste. He officially started his position on February 2, 1992. From that date until the present, his work has primarily involved research, experimentation, and teaching within the Department of Physiology and Pathology. On December 10, 1992, he earned a specialization diploma in Audiology, defending an experimental thesis on the study of certain clinical and experimental aspects of musical functions in humans. In 1999, he obtained a second specialization diploma in Psychiatry, defending an experimental thesis on the study of certain clinical aspects related to psychotherapy in adolescents. TEACHING ACTIVITIES 1992 - 2023 In the academic years from 1991 to 1996, Dr. Clarici, as a researcher, taught various courses and supplementary lessons for students in the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery program and the Bachelor of Psychology program. He also supervised and co-supervised numerous theses in Medicine and Surgery, Psychology, Translation and Interpretation (School of Modern Languages), and Electronic Engineering. Ricopre la posizione di Professore Aggregato (Ricercatore Confermato) nel settore scientifico-disciplinare MED-39 (Neuropsichiatria dell'Infanzia) e svolge l'incarico di Docente nel corso di Laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia. È inoltre professore supplente presso la Facoltà di Psicologia dell'Università di Trieste. Il Dr. Clarici è autore di oltre 55 pubblicazioni (25 articoli su riviste internazionali specializzate, 2 libri, 12 capitoli di libri, 2 articoli su riviste nazionali italiane, 12 abstract, 5 traduzioni o curatele di libri, 1 tesi di laurea e 2 tesi di specializzazione). Andrea Clarici è particolarmente coinvolto nell'interfaccia tra neuroscienze e psicoanalisi. In questo campo, è stato membro fondatore della International Society for Neuro-psychoanalysis (New York, DC e Londra, Regno Unito) e attualmente fa parte del Consiglio del Neuropsychoanalysis Centre (Londra, Regno Unito). Tra gli altri temi, i suoi lavori si sono concentrati in particolare sulle modifiche della specializzazione emisferica cerebrale come conseguenza di dosi moderate di etanolo; modifiche delle asimmetrie fisiologiche delle funzioni linguistiche come conseguenza di diverse modalità di linguaggio; studi sulla neuropsicologia dello sviluppo in bambini sani e in bambini con disturbi dell'apprendimento, in particolare la dislessia; studi sulle asimmetrie sottocorticali delle funzioni linguistiche. Il Dr. Clarici ha dedicato parte della sua attività all'analisi degli aspetti non verbali del comportamento relazionale nell'essere umano, come gli effetti delle emozioni sull'espressività facciale. Ha anche studiato l'analisi della voce umana attraverso un sistema computerizzato per il riconoscimento del segnale vocale in diverse condizioni fisiologiche. Il Dr. Clarici è stato membro anche dell'European Neuroscience Association (ENA) e della Società Italiana di Psichiatria (SIP). In questo contesto, è membro fondatore della International Society for Neuro-psychoanalysis (con sede a New York e Londra) e attualmente è membro del Comitato Esecutivo del Neuropsychoanalysis Center (Londra) come Responsabile per le Relazioni Internazionali. Le precedenti aree di interesse scientifico ed sperimentale del Dr. Clarici riguardano le funzioni motivazionali e cognitive legate allo sviluppo infantile, i processi di crescita psicologica e i componenti precoci della comunicazione verbale e non verbale. Ha condotto ricerche sui parametri fisiologici e patologici del pianto infantile. In una prospettiva integrativa tra neuroscienze e psicologia, sta studiando le modifiche dello sviluppo e strutturali della personalità a seguito di specifiche lesioni cerebrali precoci. Ha partecipato a studi di neurofisiologia sperimentale e clinica e ha contribuito all'insegnamento del corso di Fisiologia Umana nella Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia. L'interesse clinico principale del Dr. Clarici riguarda lo sviluppo psicologico dei bambini e i disturbi psichiatrici in età evolutiva. In questo contesto, ha seguito una formazione in Osservazione Infantile e Psicoterapia Psicoanalitica per Bambini e Adolescenti presso il Martha Harris Center a Venezia, con docenti inglesi della Tavistock Clinic di Londra. Un'area attuale di interesse scientifico e sperimentale per il Dr. Clarici è la fisiologia della voce come mezzo di comunicazione linguistica (parola) e come segnale acustico con componenti non verbali (ad esempio, prosodia del linguaggio in adulti e pianto infantile). Ha conseguito la laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia presso l'Università di Trieste con un punteggio di 110/110 e lode l'11 luglio 1989, difendendo una tesi sperimentale in neuropsicologia. L'1 ottobre 1989 è stato nominato medico contrattista presso il Dipartimento di Neuropsichiatria dell'Infanzia presso l'Ospedale Infantile "Burlo Garofolo" di Trieste, dove ha lavorato su un programma di ricerca focalizzato sulla "Neuropsicologia Riabilitativa dei Disturbi Specifici dell'Apprendimento (disfasia, dislessia, aprassia e impaccio motorio)." Questo contratto, inizialmente assegnato per una durata di tre anni, è stato adempiuto solo per un anno (fino al 19 settembre 1990) a causa del servizio militare obbligatorio, durante il quale ha svolto l'incarico di ufficiale medico nella Marina Militare Italiana. Nel dicembre 1989, è stato ammesso alla Scuola di Specializzazione in Audiologia presso la Clinica di Otorinolaringoiatria di Trieste, dove si è concentrato sulle applicazioni di strumentazione per l'analisi acustica della voce e del linguaggio. Il 23 novembre 1991, il Dr. Clarici ha vinto un concorso per una posizione di ricercatore universitario in Fisiologia Umana presso la Facoltà di Medicina e Chirurgia dell'Università di Trieste. Ha iniziato ufficialmente il suo incarico il 2 febbraio 1992. Da quella data fino ad oggi, il suo lavoro ha principalmente coinvolto ricerca, sperimentazione e insegnamento presso il Dipartimento di Fisiologia e Patologia. Il 10 dicembre 1992 ha conseguito un diploma di specializzazione in Audiologia, difendendo una tesi sperimentale sullo studio di determinati aspetti clinici ed sperimentali delle funzioni musicali nell'uomo. Nel 1999, ha ottenuto un secondo diploma di specializzazione in Psichiatria, difendendo una tesi sperimentale sullo studio di determinati aspetti clinici legati alla psicoterapia negli adolescenti. **ATTIVITÀ DIDATTICA** Nel periodo accademico dal 1991 al 1996, il Dr. Clarici, in qualità di ricercatore, ha tenuto diversi corsi e lezioni supplementari per gli studenti dei corsi di Laurea in Medicina e Chirurgia e Psicologia.
