Gian Andrea Pini Born on 15-11-1957 in San Lazzaro di Savena (Bologna, Italy). EDUCATION - Ph.D. in Earth Sciences, Universities of Bologna and Modena Consortium, 1987-1983. - Laurea (Master) in Geological Sciences, University of Bologna, 1981-1977. POSITIONS HELD - Professor (since 2022) and Associate Professor (2022-2013) at the University of Trieste. - Associate Professor (2013-2005) and Permanent Researcher (2005-1994) at the University of Bologna. - Post-doctoral fellowship, University of Bologna, granted by the Italian Ministry of University and Scientific Research (1994-92) and ENI-AGIP Oil Company (1991-1988). RESEARCH INTERESTS - Mass transport deposits originated from submarine slope instability and landslides (Apennines, Southern Alps and External Dinarides of Italy and Slovenia; Precordillera Argentina and Nankai Through, Japan). - Geology of mélanges and origin, kinematics and fabric of stratally disrupted units from mass transport processes, slope tectonics, mud diapirism, and tectonic deformations (Apennines and Southern Alps of Italy, North Island of New Zealand). - Interactions between shear strain, fluid circulation and mineralogy of clays in shear zones from diagenesis to anchizone. - Relationship between sedimentation and tectonics in the Tertiary accretionary wedges of the Northern Apennines and external Dinarides.
