Abstract
he internet opens up completely new possibilities for exporting companies to work foreign markets. Online distribution can be an alternative to a company's physical presence abroad. For example, companies do not necessarily have to set up their own location in the target market, which saves costs for setting up and operating foreign locations. However, the internet can also be used in addition to physical distribution channels, for example, to cultivate markets even more intensively or to be able to reach several customer groups in the target market. In addition to sales, the internet can also be used for marketing purposes. In any case, however, exporting companies should carefully check in advance whether they themselves are in a position to conduct business via the Internet and whether it is worthwhile to work a specific target market via this distribution channel, since country-specific buying behaviour on the Internet can vary greatly depending on the target market.
