La ricerca intende porre l’attenzione sul prezzo del vino locale e di importazione in un determinato periodo di tempo. Si è scelta l’Atene della seconda metà del V secolo a.C. per due fondamentali ragioni: la presenza di fonti sia archeologiche sia letterarie e la possibilità di visionare e analizzare alcuni cambiamenti dovuti all’evolversi di una determinata situazione (la Guerra del Peloponneso). Lo studio intende raggiungere, in particolare, un duplice scopo: raffrontare, al fine di valutarne l’entità, la differenza di prezzo tra il vino locale (attico) e quello di un importante e pregiato vino di importazione (Chio) e, relativamente a quest’ultimo, esaminarne i mutamenti di costo alla luce degli eventi che travolsero Atene nell’ultima parte della Guerra. The research intends to focus on the price of local and imported wine in a specific area and period of time. Athens in the second half of the 5th century B.C. was chosen for two fundamental reasons: the presence of both archaeological and literary sources and the extremely interesting possibility of viewing and analysing certain changes due to the evolution of a peculiar situation: the Peloponnesian War. In particular, the study aims to achieve a twofold objective: to compare, in order to assess the extent, the dif-ference in price between a local wine (Attic) and that of an important and expensive imported one (Chios) and, with regard to the latter, to examine the changes in its cost in the light of the events that engulfed Athens in the last part of the war.
