The use of the internet is a daily habit of the almost completely digitised society, so the major part of our one-way and two-way conversations takes place online. Consequently, language development is connected to a great extent with the new media, especially the internet. The article focuses on functional text variety on the worldwide web and the significance of the appropriate register labels for the web text words in the general dictionary of the Slovene language.
