All of the mononitro-, x,y′-dinitro-, and o,p-dinitrodiphenylmethanes could be well separated by gas chromatography (GC) and characterized by GC - Fourier transform infrared and GC - mass spectrometry analyses under different ionization modes to provide a rapid and useful method of identification of products of nitration of diphenylmethane and its mononitro and dinitro derivatives from different origins.
