Abstract
Only in certain cases epitaphs inscribed on stone, found in the territory of Roman municipia and coloniae of the Eastern Tenth Region of Roman Italy, record the tribus of the Roman citizens, who are concerned. This article explores the possibility to get from these documents information about the fines of the agri municipales. Actually, a combined study of topography and epigraphy shows that some of the inscriptions, mostly dated at an early stage of the autonomous towns, are especially significant because they give useful informations about the development of the boundaries of the municipal territories of Aquileia, Tergeste, Iulium Carnicum, Emona.
