Abstract
Il contributo descrive e analizza le conoscenze imprescindibili per lo studio dell’interpretazione di conferenza ponendo l’accento sul ruolo fondamentale svolto dal sapere dichiarativo e da quello procedurale per l’apprendimento dell’interpretazione simultanea. La riorganizzazione delle conoscenze a livello sia linguistico sia enciclopedico permette di acquisire le strategie necessarie alla realizzazione fedele del discorso interpretato dal discorso originale. Tempi veloci di reazione, décalage e controllo della propria produzione linguistica, riformulazione e ristrutturazione sono aspetti che riflettono l’impiego efficiente di strategie mirate a ottimizzare le risorse cognitive durante l’interpretazione simultanea. Le interpretazioni realizzate da professionisti e da studenti differiscono proprio in relazione alle strategie impiegate. Oltre alle strategie acquisite, tuttavia, l’interprete, per essere definito esperto e essere un professionista a tutti gli effetti, è chiamato ad integrare la competenza interpretativa con l’acquisizione degli standard professionali riconosciuti dalla cultura professionale di riferimento. The paper describes fundamental knowledge for the study of conference interpreting stressing the role played by declarative and procedural knowledge for achieving simultaneous interpreting’s skills. Knowledge reorganization, both at linguistic and encylopedic level, is paramount for acquiring a strategic behaviour leading to suitable solutions in the translation process from the original speech to the target speech. Fast reaction times, control over monitoring and décalage, reformulation and restructuring of the source language, natural prosody, are all elements reflecting the use of a strategic behaviour aimed at optimizing ressources while interpreting simultaneously. Interpreters’ and students’ performance differ in the extent to which strategies are applied. The efficient application of a well developed array of stratregies provides for a well-balanced allocation of cognitive resources. Once the basic technique and skills of simultaneous interpreting have been acquired, there is another component essential for becoming an expert and acquiring the status of a professional within the community in question. Interpreting competence alone is not sufficient. It has to be integrated by the social aspect of participating to the relevant professional culture.
