Since postwar, Italians are famous in Europe for their intense political and electoral participation. However, in the comparative survey we are reporting, as well as in all the recent local surveys, this legend is being strongly challenged. Other surprising result is that class consciousness is higher among those who vote for the right; left-wing voters are mainly composed by the medium and higher bourgeoisie; the apolitical, the right-wing voters and the “5 stelle” (a new party) by the small bourgeoisie, the workers and the employees.
