Abstract
The recovery and the morphological description of a rare encrusting calcareous species Phymatolithon
lenormandii
(Areshoug) W. H. Adey (Corallinales, Rhodophyta) are reported for the Lagoon of Venice. This species may
be considered endangered and vulnerable since it has not been yet signalled within the last two hundred
years.
