Abstract
The genre is undoubtedly one of the most interesting themes in history since it deals with elements related to culture. In textbooks the female gender is represented in most situations as submissive to the man and in which the woman plays a secondary role in the daily storytelling. The Author proposes to reflect on the representation of women in the textbooks of history of the Brazilian secondary school, underlining the concept of gender and discrimination.
