Since 2015, when the then Prime Minister Matteo Renzi launched a new agenda for Africa, Italy has diversified its involvement with the continent by being very supportive of regional economic cooperation and continental integration processes. It is a dynamic and multi-layered partnership articulated through three dimensions: 1. economic growth; 2. political stability and security; 3. human development. Within this framework Italy intends to go beyond the traditional ‘donor-beneficiary’ relationship to build a partnership centred around the concept of sharing.
