The starting-point of this paper is a manuscript collection
of religious songs and prayers from Resia that the bearer of
tradition Anna Di Battista gifted to the author in 2006.
The collection, which includes seven texts written in Resian
and eleven in Italian, is a testimony of the relation between
the oral habits and the intention to preserve this tradition
also in the written form. On this theme is carried out a
comparison with academician Milko Matičetov’s field work
that 44 years before in the same place, in Lišćaca, found
himself in a simlar situation. Besides the question about the
continuity of intangible tradition, other issues related to the
researcher’s approach in multilingual cultural setting and to
the possibilities of application of ethnografic materials and
results are examined.
