Il complesso d’Europa. Comprensione di sé e interpretazione dell’altro nell’identità europea

Abstract
The paper develops the idea of a dynamic conservation of European identity and works out a critique of multiculturalism and of politically correct, thematizing a traditional cultural-historic inner anchorage and a reaffermation of the European and Western identity. This reappropriation is here expressed as an idiologic thesis, that encloses the reflection on what is proper of a culture as primary agent of the open relation with foreign cultures. This thesis is conceived as alternative both to multiculturalist reductionism and to the political-philosophical emphasis, that forged the myth of the other and otherness. This reductionism and this emphasis are both connected with a kind of self-censorship, self-flagellation, and even self-denial, that has the character of an authentic psychopathological complex, the Europe complex.
