With the aim of exploring the strength of the existing relationships between small and medium-sized subcontractors’ resources and capabilities and their international profile a web-based survey has been carried out on a sample of 89 Italian subcontracting SMEs belonging to the plastic and to the mechanical industries.
The results confirm the existence of positive and significant relationships between firms’ resources and capabilities and their international profile. Further, they also show that the role of resources and capabilities taken into consideration change as subcontractors grow.
