A large part of the audio-visual heritage in Italy is entrust to foundations, archives, libraries and associations that conserve the analogical supports, often not in proper storage conditions. This work presents a result of a collaborative project between the University of Milan, the “Casa della Memoria” association and the ASM foundation of Brescia which aims to preserve this sparse documentation. The collaboration of those institution has led to a work of digitization, restoration and conservation of this unreleased video of the funerals of the victims of the bombing of Piazza della Loggia (28th May 1974, Brescia). The video was recently given to “Casa della Memoria” in Brescia, an association which aim is to preserve and disseminate the memory of this terrible fact happened in Brescia. Thanks to the support of the ASM foundation of Brescia, this important video arrived at the “I’ve Seen Things Research Lab” that with the work of students and experts realized the digitization and restoration.This project allowed to bring back a video of priceless historical value and evaluate the costs that a work like this requires. We monitored each step of the workflow to identify the strength and weakness of the process identifying the topics that still requires further research.
