Abstract
A correct understanding of morphodynamic phenomena in lagoon and in coastal basins is particularly important for the management of waterways, ports and natural environments. Because of the complexity of similar area, to this purpose, some of the most important tools available are numerical models. In this paper, in order to develop a 2DH depth averaged model suited to describe coastal basins, a first 1D depth-averaged sediment transport model is presented, and tested. In particular, two benchmarking tests, able to outline typical lagoon situations, are discussed: migration of a trench in steady flow and migration of a trench in steady flow with waves parallel to current. In order to evaluate the best fit for experimental data, different wave-current shear stress model are tested and compared.
