Quest’articolo pone l’attenzione sulla domanda che nel "Parzival" di Wolfram von Eschenbach precede la più nota domanda “Frouwe, wie stêt iwer nôt?”. Parzival pone una lunga serie di domande prima che Gurnemanz gli intimi di non interrogare, ma la domanda precedente la domanda acquisisce un valore particolare in quanto l’eroe apprende il proprio nome. Qui viene accennato a tutt’una struttura ancora più ampia, costituita dalla domanda precedente la domanda, la domanda taciuta, la domanda formulata diversamente e infine anche la domanda proibita. Il lettore odierno potrebbe pensare che tale struttura sottintenda una teoria della cultura, quasi Wolfram conoscesse a fondo non solo Freud, ma anche Rousseau. Lungo le stazioni scandite da queste domande apprendiamo infine che l’opposizione fondamentale nel "Parzival" è quella tra cultura e grazia, tra le norme etico-culturali e il successo insperato, immeritato, immeritabile. This article focuses on the question that precedes the more famous question “Frouwe, wie stêt iwer nôt?” in "Parzival" by Wolfram von Eschenbach. Parzival asks a long series of questions before Gurnemanz orders him not to interrogate, but the question preceding the question gains a greater value, since the hero learns his own name. Here, a whole and wider structure is hinted at, constituted by the question preceding the question, the silent question, the question differently formulated, and finally even the forbidden question. Nowadays, the reader could think that this structure implies a cultural theory, as if Wolfram deeply knew not only Freud, but also Rousseau. Following the path suggested by these questions, we finally learn that the fundamental opposition in "Parzival" is that of culture and grace, of ethical-cultural norms and the undeserved success.
