Data center electricity consumption has been rapidly increasing in the last few years as computation moves into cloud computing [1]. With the introduction of the 48 V power-delivery architecture a two-stage approach is commonly adopted where the regulation is established at second-stage level with an unregulated first stage. Typically the first stage is a fix ratio dc-dc converter, such as LLC or switching-capacitor converter. In this paper a novel unregulated non-isolated hybrid switched capacitor resonant converter is proposed for the first stage conversion from 48-V to 6-V. Experimental results for a 750W prototype in 8th brick form factor are showing the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
