The author reviews Armando Petrucci’s book Letteratura italiana: una storia attraverso
la scrittura (Roma, Carocci, 2017, pp. 728), which collects twenty essays
written by the great paleographer and historian of writing from 1965 to 2001,
and illustrates his fundamental contribution to Italian studies, with particular reference
to the mediaeval period.
