Abstract
Teaching Latin third declension poses larger problems than the other four. The classical partition between parisyllabic and unparisyllabic nouns has poor scientific value although it dates to Priscian the grammarian. In my opinion the neo-comparative method can solve a large number of problems posed by traditional teaching. Furthermore, this approach offers scientific tools that pupils can apply not only to Latin but also to other ancient and modern languages.
