A case of slowly developed giant gastric schwannoma is reported.
The clinical and diagnostic problems are discussed and brought into focus. The correct diagnosis, before surgery, is still very difficult in these cases in spite of the continuous development of new diagnostic techniques.
It is shown that echography and computerized tomography are of little use in identifyng the precise position of big abdominal tumors in relation to the peritoneum.
