The essay emphasizes the transversality of philosophical research in the network-cooperation which increasingly characterizes the inter- and transdisciplinary relations between humanities and hard sciences. Contesting a merely conservative or compensatory role of humanities in the current knowledge-based society, the innovation capacity of the philosophical tradition is highlighted in the example of the “Capability approach”.
