L’esame dell’interpretazione di un episodio del Primo libro di Samuele (2,1-10)
da parte di Agostino in ciu. XVII e di successive posizioni a riguardo di Isidoro,
Beda e Rabano Mauro intende riflettere sul fenomeno della circolazione, della ripresa
e della variazione del materiale esegetico fra tarda antichità e medioevo. Il
confronto dei passi in questione anzitutto offre una chiara documentazione del
precoce magistero agostiniano e della diffusa ricezione della sua produzione, e
inoltre testimonia l’atteggiamento sicuramente compilatorio che connota la scrittura
degli esegeti successivi, basata sulla tendenza a derivare materiale da Agostino
selezionando dalla fonte a seconda del contesto di scrittura e della destinazione
della rispettiva opera. The Augustine’s interpretation of an episode of the First Book of Samuel (2,1-10)
in ciu. XVII and the exegetical ways subsequently proposed by Isidorus, Beda and
Rhaban Maurus allows to analyze the phenomenon of the circulation, compilation
and variation of exegetical items between Late Antiquity and the Middle Age. The
comparison of the quoted passages both offers a clear documentation of the early
Augustine’s magisterium and of the reception of his literary and theological production, and also testifies to the compilatory attitude, characteristic of the compositional
aspects of the prose of the subsequent esegetes; the analysis also illustrates
the tendency to derive selected material from Augustine depending on the writing
context and on the destination of the work.
