Ergonomics in Medicine deals with the interactions related to man-work-environment relationships, in order to add, process and integrate the research and solutions offered by different sciences. This would allow the system to achieve an optimal adaptation between man, medical technologies and equipment and working environment, to study and create specific interfaces. In the context of the organization and management of healthcare facilities and services, ergonomic interventions are aimed at guaranteeing the effectiveness and efficiency of the process-system and the patients’ and operators’ satisfaction in an anthropocentric perspective. Current healthcare facilities are environments which have been made even more complex by the inclusion of increasingly advanced technologies, both for diagnosis, treatment and surgical interventions. The main case studies in ergonomics which gave objectively verifiable results are described here.
