La viabilità comunitativa di Pisa e Cascina del 1847 quale strumento di pianificazione

Questo articolo è dedicato ad un’indagine di geografia storica ri­guardante la viabilità delle Comunità di Pisa e Cascina alla metà del XIX secolo. Una ricerca basata sullo studio di quattro volumi redatti da Gaetano Becherucci, funzionario del Corpo degli Ingegneri di Ac­que e Strade, impiegati per l’accollo dei lavori pubblici sulle strade comunitative, provinciali e regie. La trasposizione delle informazioni contenute in questi volumi al formato digitale ha consentito di ri­costruire, grazie all’impiego di applicativi GIS, un livello informativo al quale è stato sovrapposto, ai fini di una comparazione, l’odierna viabilità che ritroviamo nella Carta Tecnica Regionale Toscana in sca­la 1:10.000. Realizzato utilizzando come base cartografica le mappe del proget­to della Regione Toscana CASTORE, il layer con gli andamenti delle strade ottocentesche e con i valori contenuti in questi volumi ri­guardanti larghezza, tipologia del fondo stradale, odonomastica e lunghezze, sono stati infine pubblicati online su di una piattaforma WebGIS open source dove sono visualizzabili e interrogabili. Un livel­lo informativo utile sia per lo studio degli aspetti storico-geografici di questo territorio sia quale strumento tecnico per coloro che si in­teressano di pianificazione urbanistica inerente aspetti connessi alla rete viaria di questi luoghi. This article aims to present a research of historical geography con­cerning the road network of the communities of Pisa and Cascina in the mid-nineteenth century. This study is based on the study of four volumes written by Gaetano Becherucci, an official of the Body of Water and Road Engineers, employed to take over public works on community, provincial and royal roads. The translation of the infor­mation contained in these volumes to the digital format allowed to reconstruct, thanks to the use of GIS applications, an information layer. This map was then analyzed by means of a comparison with the current viability that we find in the Regional Technical Map of Tuscany in scale 1: 10,000. The layer was developed using maps of the project of the Tuscany re­gion CASTORE as a base with the directions of the nineteenth-century streets and integrated with the values contained in these volumes concerning width, type of road surface, onomastic and lengths, were finally published online on an open source WebGIS platform where they can be viewed and interrogated. An informative level useful both for the study of the historical-geographical aspects of this territory and as a technical tool for those involved in urban planning concern­ing aspects related with to the road network of these places.
