The essays analyses in comparative perspectives the role played by civil societies in the so called "Arab springs" movementes and in the agitations that have recently emerged in Pakistan in the past ten years. The article suggests the existence of a common model of politica unrest in the Middle Eastern and South Asian islamic societies.
