l progetto europeo GI-N2K (Geographic information: Need to Know) è nato per dotare l'Europa di un Body of Knowledge nel dominio della Geographic Information Science & Technology in accordo alle più recenti scoperte concettuali e tecnologiche provenienti sia dal mondo accademico che da quello professionale. Il progetto, al quale partecipano 31 partner di 25 paesi, è co-finanziato dall’Erasmus Lifelong Learning Program. L'obiettivo di questo contributo è esaminare la Knowledge Area Cartography and Visualization nell'ottica del rapporto esistente con i beni culturali. Lo scopo è valutare la completezza delle unità nella definizione di profili per futuri esperti del settore che debbano operare a sostegno dello sviluppo locale e
della crescita economica. The GI-N2Kproject aims to provide Europe with a Geographic Information Science & Technology Body of Knowledge in order to answer the question on how the education and vocational training in the domain of GI S&T can match with the actual requirements in the job market in Europe.The project is funded by the Erasmus Lifelong Learning Program and represents an extensive network of 31 partners from 25 countries from the academic and non-academic sector linking up with associated partners from the broader industry, major GI associations and individual experts. The goal of the present paper is to analyze the knowledge area concerning the cartography and visualization and discuss how it matches the future GI professionalprofiles in the Cultural Heritage domain in preparing them for the labor market so that the GI sector in general can evolve in a dynamic and innovation.
