The urban form of Vicenza occurs even before the Roman Empire. The city was built on a path of pre Roman people, and especially of Enetoi, arranged between the Berici hills and the plain between them and the Alps. Roman Vicenza will overlap this path with the decumannus. On it will grow so even the medieval city and the city of the Venetian Republic, until the present day. The essay shows, with special designs, superimposing different urban structures in their long evolution. We understand how the city is firmly linked to the district from ancient routes that have characterized the current form.
La forma urbana di Vicenza si manifesta fin da prima dell'Impero Romano. La città sorse su un percorso delle popolazioni pre romane, e soprattutto degli Enetoi, disposto tra i Colli Berici e la pianura tra essi e le Alpi. La Vicenza romana si sovrapporrà a questo percorso con il decumano massimo. Su di esso si svilupperanno quindi anche la città medievale e la città della Repubblica Veneta, fino ai nostri giorni. Il saggio evidenzia, con appositi disegni, la sovrapposizione delle diverse strutture urbane nella loro secolare evoluzione. Si capisce come la città sia saldamente legata al circondario da antichi percorsi che ne hanno caratterizzato la forma attuale.
