Abstract
Erosion and deposition of sediments are two fundamental aspects that affect the dynamic balance of a littoral, related both to natural and human causes that contribute to the sediment dispersal and accumulation patterns. In particular, a river mouth is the result of the interaction between river flow dynamics, tides and wind wave-induced processes. Undoubtedly, study of similar phenomena requires the application of numerical models that, given the size of the domains are computationally very demanding. In the present thesis a 2DH numerical model is proposed, in order to investigate the effects of incident waves on jet dynamics. The model solves the bidimensional SWE and wave action conservation equation to reproduce the interaction between waves and flow. Comparisons with outcomes obtained with a 3D model are shown
