In the context of the meeting dedicated to the reflection on Apollo and his attestations in Veneto, the aim is to focus on the substratum of religiosity in the pre-Roman Veneto, as a cultural sphere that could have been predisposed to receive the prerogatives of an ‘Apollonian’ divinity. In order to reconstruct this religious sphere, the main characteristics of the divine figures documented in the pre-Roman Veneto will be outlined, starting with the most ancient manifestations, emphasising the close link between places and names and the prerogatives of the deities that qualify as encoriae. The presence of some specificities of Apollonian character are revealed in particular in the sanctuaries linked to health-giving waters such as Lagole di Calalzo and Montegrotto Terme, probably the most relevant of the Veneto sanctuaries, at least in the memory of Roman Classical Authors.
