Abstract
Laddove la cartografia storica rappresenta un “geogramma” (Raffestin, 2006), ossia un’immagine codificata e fissata nel tempo, secondo le esigenze e le sensibilità del contesto storico che ne ha imposto il tracciamento, questa rimane però anche il rilevamento di un ben preciso palinsesto territoriale. Proprio lo stratificarsi di segni, parte integrante dell’identità territoriale, autorizza a fare ricorso a processi di georeferenziazione, modellazione e visualizzazione 3D delle carte su supporti informatizzati ottenuti con le più moderne tecniche di rilevamento. Una cartografia storica di altissimo livello qualitativo, raffigurante i territori del Regno di Sardegna in primissima Restaurazione, drappeggiata sul modello digitale del terreno (DTM) della Regione Piemonte, ha offerto la base per una applica-zione di simulazione di volo immersivo lungo lo storico “Naviglio d’Ivrea”. Where historical cartography represents a “geogram” (Raffestin, 2006), that is an encoded and chronologically fixed image, according to the needs and sensibilities of the historical context that imposed its tracing, however, the map also remains as the detection of a very specific territory. Precisely the stratification of signs, as part of the territorial identity, authorizes the use of georeferencing, modeling and 3D visualization of maps on digital devices obtained with the most modern survey techniques. A highest quality historical cartography, depicting the territories of the Kingdom of Sardinia in the very early Restoration, digitally adapted on the terrain model (DTM) of the Piedmont Region, offered base for an immersive flight simulation on the ancient “Naviglio d’Ivrea”.
