One of the most notable acquisitions of contemporary analytical philosophy, an
acquisition extended in close times, I think, even of the so-called continental philosophy,
consists in the belief that ethical investigation constitutes an autonomous sector of
research. This conviction, said in very general terms, is expressed in the possibility of
the intervention of practical reason, or rather of a form of rationality, both in the
metaethical sphere and in the normative sphere.
