KM3NeT is a project for a neutrino telescope with a volume of a few cubic kilometres located at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. Detector optimisation is performed with respect to the number of years required for a 5σ discovery of the supernova remnant RXJ1713.7-3946, chosen as an example of a galactic source.
