Il saggio evidenzia il rapporto di contiguità tra lo scenario post-apocalittico del Pianeta irritabile (1978) e la bomba atomica raffigurata in Corporale (1974) e indaga i significati che Il pianeta irritabile rivela. Il contributo cerca di dimostrare che Il pianeta irritabile, pur essendo un’opera didascalica e moraleggiante come tutte le favole, è però anche un’opera ambivalente e che ciò è dovuto, in particolare, allo straniamento provocato dalla distopia, al ruolo di primo piano riservato al personaggio dell’Imitatore e all’impianto leopardiano del testo. Il saggio rintraccia inoltre la citazione di alcuni versi del Timone d’Atene di Shakespeare (recitati dall’elefante Roboamo e tratti dalla versione del Timone di Montale) e riflette sull’idea di denaro che Marx esprime attraverso Shakespeare e Goethe e che Volponi fa propria.
The essay underlines the close relationship between the post-apocalyptic scenario of Il pianeta irritabile (1978) and the atomic bomb represented in Corporale (1974) and it focuses on the meanings that Il pianeta irritabile reveals. The contribution aims to demonstrate that Il pianeta irritabile is not only a didactic and moralizing work, like all fairy tales, but is also an ambivalent work and that this ambivalence is due, in particular, to the estrangement caused by dystopia, to the leading role played by the character of the Imitator, and to the relevance of Leopardi within the text. Furthermore, the essay points out the quote of some verses of Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens (recited by the elephant Roboamo and taken from the Timon curated by Montale) and reflects on the idea of money that Marx expresses through Shakespeare and Goethe and that Volponi makes his own.
