Abstract
New method for the topographic effect calculation for satellite data correction. We developed a new software called DEM2tess, which allows converting a digital elevation model in a set of spherical prisms called tesseroids. Then, they are used as input to the software Tesseroids-V2, in order to obtain the anomalous potential and the components of the gravity gradient tensor. This new method allows topographic effect calculation to correct satellite gravimetric and gradiometric data. The software Tesseroids, was modified because it only allowed calculation with geometric models. The use of the software DEM2tess together with the software Tesseroid-V2, allow calculate topographic effect using a real topography. Data are transformed onto a geocentric coordinate system, in order to directly compare results with satellite data. This new software improves calculation in 50 times with respect to the software Tesseroids, this is fundamental for calculation with large topographic grids.
