In this paper, a strategic research project, carried out by the Polytechnic Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Udine, and focused on sustainability, is presented. The project, named “ESPeRT“, is focused on three interconnected research areas: sustainability of the production processes; energy and green economy; territorial resilience. The project is designed to be functional for the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, the Next-Generation EU and of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The research activities carried out in the framework of the ESPeRT project are complemented by a new teaching offer related to sustainability. Namely, a new Master course on "Industrial Engineering for Sustainable Manufacturing" has been designed and implemented, starting from the academic year 2023-24.
