Abstract
Since the earliest times, the organisation of big scale events, fairs or festivals, lay or religious, has involved urban and architectural interventions able of transforming cities, either permanently or temporarily. The holding of processions, rituals, games, events, etc., has often altered the urban and natural environment, even irreversibly. The contribution is focued on the use of light instrallation throughout history, able to dramatise cities through an intangible material.
