Abstract
Cognitive theories concerning the relationship between mind and body are useful for improving the teaching and learning of mathematics. We present here an example of methodologies based on these kinds of theories and applied at the beginning of the 20th century in Austrian secondary schools of the Küstenland, especially in the case of teaching calculus.
