PHOTOGRAPHIC TOURISM AND DIGITAL TRANSITION: FROM PANDEMIC
RESILIENCE TO THE AGE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. - This paper first
examines photographic tourism, a niche within Special Interest Tourism, during the
SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. Drawing on qualitative interviews with 16 professional
photographers, it investigates how the crisis acted as a catalyst for digital transformation
within this niche. The findings reveal that social media, online workshops, and postproduction
courses have become key tools for overcoming the crisis and uncovering future
opportunities. However, these findings suggest the need to update the theoretical
framework of photographic tourism to better account for the long-term impact of digital
transformation, from the changes triggered by the pandemic to the emerging influence of
Artificial Intelligence.
