Il teatro politico di Schiller: testo e contesti in Maria Stuart

Abstract
Maria Stuart is one of Schiller’s most celebrated classical dramas. However, if one considers the contemporary historical contexts to which Schiller alludes, it proves to be an eminently political drama of pregnant relevance. In particular, the execution scene of the Scottish queen proves to be an aesthetically argued legal-ethical appeal against the death penalty imposed for political reasons.
