Dopo la seconda guerra mondiale l'Italia subì la perdita di alcuni territori lungo i confini delle Alpi orientali ed occidentali. In seguito al trattato di Parigi del 10 febbraio 1947 anche il confine italofrancese subì una rettifica che interessò territori montuosi di modesta estensione, il più volte disabitati. Nelle Alpi Marittime, le rettifiche furono invece più consistenti, con particolare riferimento alla Val Roia e a quelle confluenti. There are several cases of territories that moved from one State to another one because of wars or international treaties. After the Second World War, Italy lost some territories along the borders of both eastern and western Alps. Because of the Paris Treaty (10 February 1947) the Italian-French border was rectified in correspondence of mountain territories of small extension, in many cases inhabited. In Maritime Alps the variations were consistent, in particular for Val Roia and the connected valleys.
