WORKING PAPERS
Abstract
The energy transition policies implemented at national and European level in recent years have not taken into consideration the issue of social justice. Instead of being used to combat social inequalities, making the transition socially desirable, they have excluded large sections of vulnerable population and marginalized territories from the economic and quality of life benefits. The paper proposes to reconsider the way in which the environmental issue is addressed, connecting social and environmental policies and starting from the improvement of the living conditions of the weaker classes. In this sense, the answers to the problem of energy poverty must become a fundamental piece of the ways in which we face the climate crisis.
