The marginal spaces are considered spaces of secondary importance, residual, but they are present everywhere in the contemporary territories. Without to associate a negative meaning to the figures of the margin, or to investigate them from a quantitative point of view, we propose a new way of seeing things. The concept of margin can be conceived such as “new qualitative marginality”, a theoretical-operative category of the project. In the territories of low and medium mountain, the production and accumulation of marginal spaces - for example due to transformation of agricultural landscapes - changed significantly the relationship between man and landscape. An experimental research, applied to the Cembra Valley in Trentino, reconceptualizes the figures of the margin through strategic devices working on what is already there, re-cycling what was rejected, both physically or conceptually.
