Polycarbonates (PC) are polyesters used for high-tech applications. For these applications many properties are needed. Gas chromatography can provide useful information about the thermodynamic properties of polymer systems for the determination of the parameters characterising polymers- solvents interactions.
In this work, Bisphenol A Polycarbonate was studied by GLC: and the Flory-Huggins parameter for paraffinic, cycloparaffinic and aromatic solvents have been determined. Two thermodynamic models (UNIFAC-FV and GC-FLORY EOS) were applied to correlate the experimental data.
