The author placed the reader in the current Salvadoran context where women face several difficulties to participate in the public sphere. She then discusses specific cases of harassment and political violence, which violate not only the regulations on violence against women in El Salvador, but also increase the obstacles with which democracy is eroded and the electoral processes are delegitimized.
