Dopo una breve introduzione, che mette in luce le caratteristiche della poesia indiana
classica (chiamata kavya con il termine originale sanscrito), si presenta la traduzione italiana del I canto di un poema famosissimo. Il commento che accompagna ogni quartina
ha lo scopo di illuminare per il lettore non specialista alcuni elementi dell’immaginario
letterario che l’Autore esibisce nel testo e la sofisticata costruzione retorica e
letteraria delle strofe.
A short introduction, which highlights the features of classical Indian poetry (or
kavya, in the original Sanskrit word), is followed by the Italian translation of the I canto
of a very famous poem. The comment accompanying each stanza fulfils the purpose of
clarifying to the non-specialised reader some elements of the literary imagery that the
author displays in the text, as well as the sophisticated rhetorical and literary construction
of the verses.
