Martin Lutero nel V Centenario della Riforma. Nuove tendenze interpretative

Il 500 anniversario della Riforma (1517-2017) ha dato vita a nuove ricerche e dibattiti sulla divisione nella cristianità occidentale. L’autore analizza in maniera accurata alcuni dei più importanti volumi delle Opere scelte di Lutero dati di recente alle stampe a c. di P. Ricca; poi prende in esame il lavoro collettaneo pubblicato da P. Ricca, F. Buzzi e D. Kampen. Si tratta di testi e commenti, edizioni, che propongono una rivisitazione critica dell’opera del Riformatore che si discosta dall’immagine del suo pensiero che si era imposta nel XIX secolo, ad esempio con Karl Barth e, in Italia, con Giovanni Miegge. In questo modo essi intendono contribuire a rafforzare le basi del dialogo ecumenico. Ci troviamo così di fronte a un quadro ermeneutico in cui si valorizzano sempre di più gli aspetti mistici della teologia di Lutero e le sue radici tardo – medioevali. Questa prospettiva, orienta anche la più recente opera di Walter Kasper. In particolare, Kasper, pur riconoscendo l’esistenza di importanti problemi da risolvere (soprattutto sul terreno dell’ecclesiologia), che rendono difficile il dialogo ecumenico, pone in risalto il rapporto Lutero- mistica tardo-medioevale, come esso emerge negli scritti del Riformatore. Accoglie, poi, le posizioni della esortazione apostolica Evangelii gaudium (2013), in cui Papa Francesco invita tutti alla conversione, mettendo in evidenza «l’originaria esigenza fondamentale di Lutero, ossia il vangelo della grazia e della misericordia e l’appello alla conversione e al rinnovamento», per dar vita ad un progressivo ecumenismo spirituale, non ad un compromesso politico tra le Chiese. Parole chiave: Martin Lutero, teologia ecumenica, Riforma protestante, Walter Kasper ABSTRACT The 500 Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation (1517-2017) brings new reconsiderations and debates on the rift in the Western Christianity. The main purpose of the author is to provide an accurate analysis of the most important texts of Martin Luther’s Selected Works recently edited by P. Ricca; and then of the Collected Papers on Luther and the Mystics published by P. Ricca – F. Buzzi and D. Kampen. These texts, commentaries, critical editions, aim to offer a new approach to Luther’s opus, that is very different from those of Karl Barth and others such as, in Italy, of Giovanni Miegge, that have been dominant within the understanding of Luther in the XIX Century. The main goal is the wish to reinforce the ecumenical dialogue. For that, the topics covered in these volumes intend to stress the importance of recognizing the deep medieval mystical roots of Luther’s theology. The same interpretation has been variously expressed in the latest work of Kasper. He admits that there are still pending and undeniable deeper differences on theological issues, «pre-eminently those dealing with ecclesiology», but, following the teaching of Pope Francis and Evangelii gaudium (2013), he thinks that we urgently need to put the emphasis on the centrality of Luther’s main idea of mercy, of the need of reforming the shape of the Church, of the need of conversion, i.e. on the Gospel of Grace. The aim is not to realize a political compromise, but a reciprocal ecumenical process of learning and conversion, a spiritual ecumenism.
