xamines some classical theories for the calculation of pressure trends in centrifugal pump volutes, applied to a machine of known geometry. Pressure trends obtained by theoretical calculations are compared with the experimental results found on a test pump in different operating conditions. On the basis of the pressure values measured in the volute, calculations are made on the radial forces discharged on the shaft and, in turn, on the pump bearings. Theoretical and experimental results are then compared. (A)
