Introduction to the volume with a brief historical analysis of the evolution of translation and translation studies. Contemporary translation discourses have focused on two main sometimes contrasting approaches, the linguistic, function- and culture-oriented approach and the literary approach. The thirteen contributions covering different paradigms are then presented.
